Because We Care . . .

JFS Adult Senior Program

We are here for you!  JFS provides services that focus on the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Jewish adults ages 45 and over, and other older adults in the greater Akron community.

Jewish Family Service - Our Mission

The mission of Jewish Family Service of Akron is to enhance the mental, emotional and social well-being of individuals and families through counseling services, educational programming and community outreach consistent with Jewish values.

Jewish Family Service (JFS) is supported by United Way of Summit County and the Jewish Community Board of Akron.

How Can We Help?

  • Help senior adults live fulfilling, independent and productive lives for as long as possible;
  • Help senior adults remain connected to the Jewish and general Akron community;
  • Provide links to community resources to enable independence and enhance quality of life;
  • Provide supportive services;
  • Sponsor preventative mental health services;
  • Assist persons with disabilities;
  • Provide special programs, outreach and educational services, including older adult programs through the Shaw JCC

We Need You!

Do you like to volunteer?  Do you enjoy helping others?  Want to make new friends?  JFS could use your help!  We're always looking for volunteers to visit seniors as part of our Friendly Visitors Program.  We also could use some help around the office.  Interested?  Contact Nancy Walfish at 330-867-3388 or nwalfish@jewishakron.org.
